KIKO Makeup Haul
I don't normally buy a whole bunch of makeup items at once. I generally just pick up pieces whenever I need, or more likely want, something in particular. I largely blame Sascha of Beauty Geek UK for this KIKO haul as, after reading her post on their new Jelly Jungle range, I just had to have the Jelly Jungle 4 in 1 Eye Brush. Have a read of her original post HERE. Once I was on the KIKO website there was no stopping me, not helped by the fact that they were having a sale at the time. I haven't used any KIKO products before so I picked up a few staple items to see how they fare compared to what I'm currently using along with a couple of pretty things that caught my eye.
To kick things off let's take a look at the product that started it all, the KIKO Jelly Jungle 4 in 1 Eye Brush. As the name suggests, the pretty, metallic effect case houses 4 interchangeable tips. There is a flat brush for eyeshadow, a tapered brush for precision work, an angled brush for applying eyeliner, and a foam smudger. It's compact and has a protective cap over each end making it absolutely ideal for travel.
I picked up both the KIKO Precision Eyebrow Pencil and KIKO Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner to see how they compare with similar products that I use on a day-to-day basis. I chose the eyebrow pencil in shade 04 which is described on the KIKO website as being for "light chestnut and blonds". It has a combe on the end which is always handy and it also comes with a sharpener which, especially at this price point, was a nice surprise. The shade of eyeliner that I went for is 04 Pearly Brown. I generally prefer to use a brown rather than black eyeliner as it's a little softer. This one has a subtle shimmer to it which is very pretty. KIKO have a few different eyeliners but I was drawn to this one in particular as firstly it has a smudger on one end and I prefer a smudgy, smoky look and also, they claim it stays put for up to 10 hours.
Next up is the KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow which I have high hopes for being a great dupe for similar (much pricier) options from other brands. I picked it up in both shade 25 Light Taupe and 36 Golden Mauve. Having swatched it, Light Taupe looks a lot lighter than I was expecting but I'm hoping that it will still work well as a base. Golden Mauve is a beautiful, shimmery, soft pink that I'm so excited to try. They do a huge 32 shades in total so there should be something there to suite everyone. They say this lasts for up to 8 hours so I'm hopeful that it won't crease too much on my, rather oily, eyelids.
I have heard lots of good things about the KIKO Standout Volume Buildable Mascara. Another favourite blogger of mine Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends did a review of it HERE. I'm a bit of a mascara junkie and can't seem to settle on just one that I love most so I'm always up for trying something new. So much so that I currently have a bit of a mascara testing back-log to get through so this one will have to join the queue.
The last product I picked up is the KIKO Shade Fusion Trio Blush in shade 04 Peach Rose. This pretty little matte blush instantly caught my eye. You have the choice of picking out the individual colours or just sweeping your brush through all 3 at once. I chose one of the paler combinations to suite my super pale complexion. I am so impressed with all of the KIKO packaging but the blush stands out in particular for being of a quality that defies the price. It has a sleek, gunmetal effect finish and closes with a satisfying snap due to a little magnet. It also has a handy mirror in the lid.
Swatches from top to bottom are: Precision Eyebrow Pencil 04, Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner 04, Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow 25, Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow 36, Shade Fusion Trio Blush 04.
